Chandigarh October 10:-The field operations for prevention and control of
dengue were stepped up today by deploying the special survey teams in the
areas where the dengue cases were detected.
The Medical Officers of the dispensaries were again put on alert for
institution of control measures in their respective areas. The checking
of mosquitogenic situations remained the priority of the department. The
survey teams of the Health Deptt. comprising of approximately 200 persons
of all categories checked more than 4000 places for detection of mosquito
breeding.
The report of the dengue cases compiled from various hospitals shows that
out of total 190 cases reported from GMSH-16, PGIMER-12, GMCH-32 and
Fortis Hospital in Chandigarh total 113 number of conformed cases of
dengue belong to this region i.e. Punjab, Haryana, UP, Delhi and
Uttaranchal. Out of 113 confirmed cases 38 positive cases are from
Chandigarh.
The confirmed cases are being investigated by the department so as to
ascertain the source of infection by verification of history of movement
of the patients.
In order to create awareness among the masses IEC activities were carried
out in different areas of Chandigarh. People were educated as how not to
create mosquitogenic situations in and around their houses.
The teams of Health Department issued 69 notices under Section-2 of
Epidemic Disease Act 1897 to the defaulters in all the zones of
Chandigarh.
Two fog-generators have been deployed for carrying out fogging operations.
The areas of Sector 30 B, 44 B, 4,5, 6 ,7 ,12 and Dainik Bhaskar building
have been covered. The teams have been asked to inform two shopkeepers
with address or two residents of the area along with their signatures from
the point of start. The action would be repeated at the end of the
operations. The Health Department has intensified the containment
measures with available resources
