Chandigarh Art Council to organise competitive programmes

Chandigarh October 10:- Competitive programmes will be organized by
Chandigarh Akademies to promote the art and culture in U.T. This decision
was taken at the executive meeting of the Chandigarh Arts Council(CAC)
held at U.T. Secretariat under the chairmanship of Adviser to the
Administrator, Mr.Lalit Sharma here today.
The meeting reviewed the activities of the council and the three
Akademies and decision was taken to further boost the programmes. The
meeting also reviewed the financial position and discussed plans for
organizing cultural programmes. CAC will further upgrade the facilities
for the akademies and artists.
Adviser, Mr.Sharma asked for exploring the possibility of competitive
programmes and annual awards for the artists. He also stressed for
increasing the level of understanding of classical music and classical
dance among the masses. He said that there was a need to demystify
different forms of art and culture.

Director, North Zone Cultural Centre, Mr.R.T. Jindal, Director Public

Mr.V.K.Bhardwaj, Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademy Chairman, Mr.Aditya
Prakash, Joint Secretary, CAC, Mr.Vineet Punia, Chandigarh Sahitya
Akademy Secretary, Mr.Prem Vij and Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademy Vice
Chairman, Mr.Kamal Arora participated in the meeting. .
