Chandigarh, August 7:- Now, Chandigarh Panchkula will have one additional link. The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh. Gen. (Retd.) S.F. Rodrigues, has approved the opening of link road between the Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park (RGCTP) and Mansa Devi Urban Estate, Panchkula. The Government of Haryana had requested the Administrator for opening this link road in order to facilitate the traffic between Mansa Devi Urban Estate, RGCTP and other areas of Chandigarh UT. The road had been earlier constructed but had not been opened due to certain pending clarifications with the Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India relating to the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) status of RGCTP.
& nbsp; &n bsp; & nbsp; &n bsp; On receipt of the clarification from the Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India, the Department of Information Technology, UT, Chandigarh moved a proposal to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh for allowing road to be opened for traffic which has been approved by the Administrator. This decision would facilitate a large number of residents of Chandigarh and Panchkula and also professionals working in the RGCTP. Haryana government has been asked to complete certain drainage work near the link road so that road can be made operational at the very earliest
